The Top Free Patriotic Crafts, Ideas, and Free Patterns and President’s Day Facts
Thursday, July 15th, 2010
This year Presidents Day falls on February 16. Many schools use the time before Presidents Day to educate young children about presidents past and present and the workings of the United States Government. Patriotic crafts for children are a great way to teach them about the history of Presidentâs Day . Make these great patriotic homemade crafts with your own child at home and spend time with them talking about what it means to be an American!
Patriotic Crafts for Children
George Washington Powdered Wig
Dress-up like the birthday boy himself â our very first president George Washington â with this fun and educational project.

Presidents Day Facts:
Presidents Day, also known as Washingtonâs Birthday or Washington and Lincoln Day, is a United States Federal Holiday, celebrated the third Monday of February.
Presidentsâ Day is also known as a day to celebrate General Washingtonâs creation of the first military badge of merit for the common soldier â the Purple Heart â which was revived on Washingtonâs 200th birthday in 1932. Many people honor US veterans over Washingtonâs birthday weekend.
In New Mexico, Presidentâs Day, as a state government paid holiday, is observed on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Because Presidents Day is not the official name for the federal holiday, many spellings are accepted with no right or wrong. Presidentâs Day, Presidents Day, and Presidentsâ Day are all commonly used spellings of the holidayâs name.
Making Dolls By Way Of Cloth Doll Patterns
Monday, July 12th, 2010Most of us consider some of our childhood toys very sentimental because they bring back lots of memories. We get to remember the days when we were stress-free and live life as if living in a world of fantasy. The toys that we had before were a lot simpler than the toys that children have now. We don’t even have to use batteries to make it work. All we needed was our imagination and creativity. At present, children do not really know how to value their toys because when something better comes out in the market, they tend to forget the old ones.
I once passed by little children in our neighbourhood playing with a couple of dolls. I can tell that the dolls were personally made by their mother through cloth doll patterns. My sister and I also used to own dolls that our mother made all by herself. She would usually give us a doll or two on our birthdays with different themes.
The dolls that our mom has created can be closely compared to the ones that you see in department stores. She can make dolls in no time with the use of cloth doll patterns. After that, she puts in the details like the hair, eyes, nose and eyes. Our mom sure does have an artistic talent that I wish I had, too. Many people also admire her for what she does and some would actually ask her to make one for their children. It should have been a great business opportunity, but she didn’t take advantage of it.
When we grew up as well as her friends’ kids, she stopped making dolls. But when I got married and had two beautiful daughters, she is in full swing with her hobby again. Just like old times, she still uses cloth doll patterns in making pretty dolls. She also patterned the dolls with the personality of my kids. One of daughters is very athletic, so she made a number of dolls having a sports theme. My kids value the dolls so much and they even have a space dedicated just for them.
There was a time when one of my dear friends asked my mother if she could make a doll for her wife. He wanted to give something unique for their wedding anniversary. My mother gladly accepted it. She chose a perfect pattern from her many cloth doll patterns and created a very chic doll. My mother is so happy that her crafts are well-appreciated by children and even by adults. Many have already convinced her to put up a doll store, but she consistently refused. She said she creates dolls just for fun and not for profit. She also welcomed people who wanted to learn how to make dolls using cloth doll patterns.

What’s the best way to design wood craft patterns and sell them?
Tuesday, July 6th, 2010I like to design patterns for decorative wood items like snowmen, halloween things, etc.
I would like to try selling the patterns. I have designed them for myself to make, but how do I make them so they can be enlarged and used by others?
Thanks in advance!
http://www.the-best-homemade-gift-ideas.com
The patterns are done in paper so they can be enlarged on a photo copy machine. I am trying to figure out the best way to market them so they can be sold to others.
Or is there a website out there that has ideas on how to sell patterns that you make?
Celtic Cross Stitch Embroidery, Designs, Patterns And Instructions To Get Started
Tuesday, July 6th, 2010We all have interests in life, from music to painting – there’s an artist in all of us. Out of that a large chunk are to busy or inhibited to find time for such activities while a small group are able to fulfill their passion. An artist usually converts his hobbies into full time activity.
Hobbies range from painting to music, from writing to antiques and even embroidery. Embroidery is very much an art form, one that enables you to use a broad range of colors.
Embroidery is like doing a painting or learning the dance steps of your favorite music score. Embroidery takes you a step closer to a finer art form. With the use of a needle you create life by stitching. This is a primitive art form.
There is evidence to prove that embroidery was prevalent during Stone Age, they used strips of leather and bone needles. Today the range is vast from fabrics and threads to design patterns to select from.
Embroidery can be a leisurely hobby. Embroidery allows us to make animal prints, make sceneries and small but wonderful craft items. That’s not all we can make prints on hand towels that we use daily or create some cartoon like pictures on the tablemats we use. I can go on and on about the use of embroidery.
To get started with you’re desired Celtic pattern you would require certain supplies or celtic cross stitch samplers. First make a choice of that intriguing Celtic cross stitch sewing design, some material for cross stitch, needles, sewing specific threads and an sewing frame.
Fabrics like Aida, Jobelan, Even weave linen and others can be put to use for creating your own masterpiece. You can choose threads like Standard cotton threads, Silk threads, DMC flexible cotton threads, wool yarns, Metallic and also Perle/Perl fabric threads.
You are not limited to a single thread color, use as many as you like to give the pattern a colorful facade. Nickel-plated as well as gold plated needles could be used. Frequently a round edged needle between the size of 24 or 26 is needed to make customary cross stitch design.
This Celtic cross stitch sewing is revered all around the globe for the artistry of the knots and for the unique interlacing patterns. Today Celtic cross stitch embroidery is known all over the globe as the patterns are easily available but the Spanish, Italians, Germans and English are thought to be the place of its origin.
Women in United Kingdom are known to be highly doting of cross stitch sewing, their taste for these embroideries let them create patterns that are exclusive. People from Celts were enormously prominent for their hand made patterns. They were so engrossed in these patterns that they had one for each day.
To begin Celtic cross stitch sewing it is not mandatory that one should acquire in-depth facts about the art form. Not much propaganda is needed to spread or create interest in Celtic cross stitch sewing; simply show some of your creations to you friends and family members.
Most of them shall just queue around you to learn. Patterns are now available on the net and pattern books. This art form is an addiction, the instance to get introduced you will never stop practicing it. Bet you would like to try you’re hand at it!!
Machine Embroidery Patterns for the Craftless People
Monday, July 5th, 2010When it comes to embroidery, the general public either steer away from it completely or ridicule those that essentially enjoy embroidering. However [*COMMA] the general public don’t realize that embroidery involves more than hand-stitching a lovable little wall-hanging-embroidery goes into clothes, tents, shoes, carpet, and countless other things. It’s got a functional and well as a decorate purpose. The functional purpose actually is utilized more frequently. [**] things have got to be sewn together somehow-you might as well make it tasty while you are at it. Machine embroidery patterns can be made for basically all your desires whether you need a new baseball hat or a new quilt-you name it, you have it.
If you have got your own machine embroidery machine, take advantage of it. Use it to add finishing touches to your wash towels, your clothes, and your bedding. If you are not hot for swirls and curls, use embroidery to make your books and clothing stronger and longer-lasting. Machine embroidery patterns can be made for almost anything. It’s a neat way to save money when you have none to spare, particularly during this time of economic upheaval. Use your brains and you will be satisfied with the results .
However many of us don’t have embroidery machines available for our use. Fortunately though, everybody has the option of using and choosing machine embroidery patterns. These patterns are a good way to add finishing touches to anything that lacks creativity or seems too bland to be of much use. Choose machine embroidery patterns that fit your personality though, or you could be disenchanted with the finished product. Embroidery can be invisible if you want it to be, but it could also be the highlight of the piece you intend to finish . Most men, clearly, don’t need shirts or pants that are covered with flower petals and leaves, but many ladies would adore to have clothes like that. The loveliest part of most wedding dresses is the embroidery, if it is hand-embroidered or stitched by machine.
if you are in the midst of choosing a machine embroidery pattern, ensure you have something to use it on first. The pattern for a hat will be very different to the pattern for a dress or for 2 pants. If you need to use embroidery strictly for an ornamental purpose, there are plenty of options available. I once saw a wall hanging in the house of a vegan that was lined with corn, green beans, broccoli, carrots, and potatoes. It actually had a particularly appealing impact on the kitchen ; it actually made me need to eat a vegan stir-fry. The great thing about embroidery is that it allows you to express your personality. If you are a lover of sports, show it to those around you. If you are a musician, allow that like to be visualised in everything you have. Make life more interesting by implementing your personality into anything you can. It doesn’t have to jump out at each person who walks by ; it can be sophisticated and delicate. Go with whatever works.
As formerly mentioned, embroidery does not only have an ornamental purpose. Machine patterns of embroidery are a brilliant way of making the things you are attached to more durable and enduring. You may still not be persuaded that embroidery is beneficial to you or anyone else who doesn’t enjoy crafts, but the reality is, it is everywhere you see. Using it to express your personality is not just fun, but cheap and cheap. Go with whatever works for you. Next year.
